'Play therapy' a great success !

Most of the children that attend hippotherapy sessions at Miracles Sudan, are unable to go to school, because the schools will not accept them, because of their disabilities.
So we decided to 'educate' the children ourselves (through play) while they are waiting for their turn on the horse.
Today was our first day. And, it was a great success, with both the children and their parents. Here are a few photos.

New donation appeal

Miracles Sudan has created a new blog site, www.donatemiraclessudan.blogspot.com ('Donate' on the content bar), to enable us to receive funds, to help us through the summer months.
From May untill September most of our private riding school students leave Sudan for their long summer vacation. As you may, or may not know, the money we receive from these private riding lessons, helps to financially support our hippotherapy programme.
Please take a minute to look at our new appeal, and also find a place in your heart to contribute to this very worthy cause.

Miracles Sudan riding centre is a very interesting and enjoyable farm for schools to bring their children for a school trip.

The children can learn how to care for animals, and how to feed them. They can learn about agreculture. How to plant crops and how to care for them.

And one of the most enjoyable activities when the children come to visit is riding on our calm, well trained horses.

All the children at Miraclessudan Hippotherapy program would like to thank the honourary members of the Ashbury college class of 82 for their very kind donation to this program.

Brad Hamson, gave the donation in their name, and we also recieved a very kind and encouraging e.mail from Brad, saying, ".... it lifted my spirits to see the smiling faces of those wonderful children, whom your horses do so much for. Thank you again. We will pass the word, and Canadian peacemakers will continue our involvement in the future. You are a beacon of hope to all those children.

Donation given in memory of George Kent

George Kent sadly passed away September 29, 2009. While his son Paul Kent was serving with the UN in Sudan.

Paul has said that his father loved animals and children. So The Canadian contingent has made a kind donation to our Hippotherapy program, in the memory of George Kent.

The Canadians volunteer at our farm and know the good that the donation will do in helping our Hippotherapy program to continue to grow.

Cerebral Palsy in Sudan

A large number of children in Sudan, mostly with a Neurological developmental condition face the challenge of living within their own space, while the world outside doesn’t seem prepared to adjust according to their needs.

Hippotherapy in Sudan

A number of modalities apply in helping children with special needs, Hippotherapy being one of the growing and effective ones among them. This term literally means “treatment with the help of horses” and so far it is one of the most complementary modalities used in therapy. Hippotherapy has a deeper and wider positive impact on disabled children.

Hi from Sudan, my name is Twylight.....

Hi my name is Twylight. I was badly abused and mistreated befor I came to Miracles Sudan riding center.I had been brought by a young boy who thought he knew how to ride. When he brought me I was very young and had never been riden befor. Because he tried to ride me so young it damaged my back, and now my back has a permanent dip in it.

Hi my name is Nejwa. I wasn't rescued from neglect or abuse like most of the horses at Miracles Sudan riding center. I was given as a gift, by a very kind lady who knew how much I would enjoy living on the farm and helping the disabled children of Sudan by working in the hippotherapy program that is run by our human JA.

Few people realize the costs involved in running a successful, therapeutic farm. But someone once said; “Money is like manure; it's not worth a thing unless it's spread around encouraging young things to grow!” Here at the farm, there’s certainly a surplus of manure, but unfortunately a deficit of money! I hope you can personally help change that equation.
